About Us
The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission (RASC) was formed in 1991 by a core group of business and sports visionaries. The first event for RASC was Minnesota’s Star of the North State Games. The vision was to bring to Rochester, major national and international events, and along with them, the recognition of Rochester as a hub for amateur sports. Over time, RASC has established itself as one of the premier sport organizations in the country. Today, RASC has 5 full-time employees and runs over 20 events per year.
Ages Involved:
RASC runs events involving athletes of all ages. Most events are developed for young people ages 12-18. RASC runs several college age events and occasionally event for adults.
Sports:
RASC has had the opportunity to run several different sporting events. The events range from the traditional sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc. to non-traditional sports like baton twirling, tug-of-war, and table tennis. The Star of the North Games consists of over 20 sports. Rochester has hosted this event more than any other city in Minnesota.
