The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission got the new year rolling with three exciting events in January: The Clash National High School Wrestling Duals, Frostbite Volleyball Festival and the Rochester Area Sports Banquet.
The Clash National High School Wrestling Duals brought 32 high school wrestling teams to the UCR Field House. This included teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee, Colorado, California, Oregon, and Hawaii.
The Frostbite Volleyball Festival was filled to capacity with over 65 volleyball teams participating in the event. It was hosted by the Rochester Youth Volleyball Association in partnership with the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission, with 2010 marking the 9th year for the event.
With former Minnesota Twin and Hall of Famer Rod Carew as the guest speaker, the Rochester Area Sports Banquet was an exciting evening for local athletes and coaches. The silent auction, which took place throughout the evening, raised $4500 for the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester. Awards were given to the following
- RCTC Women’s Basketball: Team of the Year
- Rochester Community Youth Basketball Association: Organization of the Year
- Steve Hucke (RCTC Women’s Basketball): Coach of the Year
- Rochester Shining Stars: Adaptive Athlete/Team of the Year
- Maggie McNamara (Concordia St. Paul Volleyball): Female Athlete of the Year
- Tyler Cain (University of South Dakota Basketball): Male Athlete of the Year
- Mike Carroll: Lifetime Achievement Award
- Doug Hudson: Coaches Lifetime Achievement Award

Grand Slam Expo: February 12-13—Rochester Regional Stadium Bubble
Rochester is proud to introduce the 1st Annual Grand Slam Expo! The Expo will bring Exhibitors involved in all areas and ages of softball, fast pitch, and baseball to Rochester, showcasing their cutting edge products and service to you and your teams! Be sure to take advantage of on-site product testing and education/skills clinics.
