RASC Wins National Award!
The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission was recently selected as the Member of Year in their operating budget category by the National Association of Sports Commission (NASC). The award was announced at the NASC Annual Sports Symposium held in Columbus, OH. This award is part of an awards program that includes the categories of Member of the Year, Outstanding Locally Created Event/Program, Outstanding Communication/Advertising and Outstanding Website.
The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) is the sports event industry's leading networking organization. Founded in 1992, the NASC represents nearly 500 organizations, including 300 cities within the sports event industry across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
“We are thrilled! This award is the ultimate honor in the sports event industry”, shared Ed Hruska – Executive Director of the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission. “However, while staff was presented with the award, this is really an honor given to the entire Rochester community. We couldn’t be successful if not for the efforts of our local sport groups and the support of the community in general”.
NASC members include organizations that attract sporting events to their community (i.e. sports commissions and convention and visitors bureaus), event owners, and vendors and suppliers to the sports event industry. The NASC is the primary network for communication and information sharing on all topics relating to the sports event industry.
The Member of the Year award is given to an active member who has had the most outstanding impact on their local community through sporting events, community events and/or economic impact. Judging was based on the quality of the sporting events brought to the community based on community interest, size of events in relation to community size, and the impact the events had on the community.
